Horn Inop
My car failed our state inspection because my horn doesn't work. I have no idea how long it hasn't worked because I've only owned the car for a year.
I checked my relay and from there, the horn works.
I can set my alarm off, and the horn works from there, so I think I'm down to my steering column. Can anyone give me some guidance on what wires I should be testing in there? I found a block of 4, 2A fuses and all of them have power going to them except for the yellow wires which don't have power going to them. Is this the 2A fuse showing up on the wiring diagram? The wiring diagram I have doesn't show what color wire the horn wire is going into the steering column.

2007 Transmission Addidtives
Hi everyone, I am a first time owner of an SRX with 114,000 miles on it. All my previous vehicles Ihad used slick 50 in the trans and always got over 200,000 miles on them. Are addidtives recommended for the GM trans?. I feel I should do some sort of addidtive to protect this new investment. I hope to have a happy relationship with my SRX and this board.

engine code reader for CEL
any know if this one in the link would work
I have seen loads on the .com website or my local Advance auto store but i'm not back in the US till November and wanted one quicker than i expected now.
so trying to source on from here.
my local dealer is about 200 miles away so not going that route .....yet !!
I read somwhere that says the the caddy SRX 2007 does not work with a OBD2 scanner.
but on the link below it says it will work with the CAN-BUS system.
but does not list the vehicles unfortunately.

2004 SRX False alarms? Oil pressure
Hi,
I have a 2004 SRX with 123,000 miles I just got a few months ago. I have already sunk $2k into
I have two on going issues. First and most importantly I am getting false oil pressure alarms. They are not throwing a computer code. I have verified I have plenty of oil. I have taken the car to the dealer and paid to have the oil pressure changed. I have had this happen to me three separate times. I have not figured out how to replicate the problem yet. The common symptom though is after driving for over 30 minutes in city traffic, the oil pressure alert will come on for a couple of seconds at a time at stop lights. If I stop the car and start it up again I don't get the alerts doing the same thing?
I also have an issue with the stability sensor kicking on, once again for just a second at a time. This only happens when I am in cruise control, and hit a pot hole. I replaced both front end leveling sensors and a strut and it happens a lot less often. Once again no computer code. In all cases I was not even in a corner when it kicked on the car was going straight in cruise control.
The dealer is stumped, they suggest changing the steering sensor and reseating the wiring but admit that would be over $500 and since there is no code they are not sure if it would do anything. I only agreed to the oil sensor because it's such a serious warning.
The dealer is stumped and so am I. I am wondering if there are related. Should I just trade this in and cut my losses?

looking at buying 2004 srx
I'm looking at buying a 2004 sex northstar v8 . Went to look at it today a few warnings came up one for service tire sensor. Abs/traction control lights on. He says because of shocks being blown. Both rear shocks are done but I do not hear the compressor kick in on startup. He only wants 4800 for it. It has 161000km I think that's around 100000 miles.
Could the abs light be from the suspension stability control or is it a wheel hub most likely.

I have the 2006 Cadillac SRX.
I have an issue with the code p0008.
Somebody told me to change the camshaft position sensor.
I changed it and still I have the same code.
Do they have to be reset by the Cadillac dealership or with the computer. What do I do next?

Uh oh. Oil in the airbox tube.
During an air filter change, I pulled the tube that connects the airbox to the throttle body. Discovered it was full of oil. So much so that I had to pour it out and then wipe it out. I don't know if this just started or has been happening slowly over the years. Car "burns" 1 qt per thousand miles. Any advise would be be appreciated. Thanks.

Just did the dumbest thing ever!! Help
I can't believe I just did this but I have an 04 SRX and I couldn't get me key out of the ignition. Looked through the forums and it seems like it is a steering lock issue. I tried disconnecting the batt, starting restarting, an even unscrewed the screw under the steering column to try to manually pop the spring but couldn't do it. So here's where I got stupid. I didn't want to leave the car in the driveway unlocked with the key in the ignition but didn't want the battery dead from the accessories stuck on either so I locked the doors then disconnected the battery then closed the hood. Why did I close the hood? By the way I have one key for this car.
Any idea how to open the hood from the outside?

VIN number needed (Cadillac SRX 2005 or 2006 V8)
I need to replace my Transmission cooler lines to a new one with the 90 degree angle which remove the thermal bypass. I need a VIN number of a 2006 or 2008 V8 in order to get GMpartsdirect to send me the parts. If anyone can let me borrow their VIN number or a least supply me the correct part number for the cadillac srx upper & lower hose (transmission cooler) with the 90 degree end.
I'm getting desperate I'm loosing 2% transmission oil life per day and its not even the peak of summer here in Doha (I'm Driving 120km/day).

starting to think i may have purchased a lemon
could not wait till i received my obd2 can-bus scanner so took it to my local guy who i use for my MOT inspections , he linked it up to his (£6.5k !! yes you do get what you pay for) computer thingy
and it came up with error code p0008.
now reading up on here its to do with the timing chains stretching.
the engine does not rattle at all , in fact its the quietest car i have ever owned.
the engine seems to drive well and pulls like a train.
could anything else throw this code up does anyone know?
before i ship it back to the garage.
I wouldnt mind but i have been driving it like miss daisy for the past 2 weeks of ownership, not even opened the throttle fully yet.
and it came up with error code p0008.

Purge valve solenoid
I have the picture of my Purge Valve Solenoid. I am wanting to know does it look connected correctly . I noticed that the CTS has it turned in the opposite direction. I have been having P0446 so was informed to have this Replaced so just going to wait till the part comes in. Does anyone else know what fuse and where it is located just in case it has a fault.

Air conditioning problem
Hey guys any help would be appreciated, in my 2008 srx the driver side climate control is blowing colder air than the passenger side, which is really confusing me, any ideas what could be going wrong?

08 srx v6 awd engine damaged by dealer...
2008 Cadillac srx v6 awd went in dealership for power train warranty for oil sweating engine.
Dealer replaced all seals and gaskets from front engine cover, rear differential replaced, waterpump was apparently leaking and mixed coolant and oil so they replaced it too. How long does this work take and cost?
4 days after receiving it from dealer apparently fully repaired, diagnosed and tested it got a new knocking sound and engine vibration especially when idling. The very next day internal engine components broke and siezed (I found out after that bearing siezed and rod broke) on the highway. This happened the next day after taking it back to dealer explaining the problem and he guaranteed me its ok and can wait after the l one ng weekend since they were busy.
Now they claiming that its due to lack of maintenance since the first time it went in they said it was missing 3.8L of oil (service advisor says we drained it and thats how we know, service manager says we topped it up and thats how we know, gm says no they never changed your oil or coolant like I was advised but the reason for failure the previous owners have done an aftermarket oil filter which failed and stopped oil flow to engine). So now they are denying warranty and gave me only 2 options.
Replacement of new engine $7500 my cost or rebuilding all internal components of this engine $6800.
Please help, what can I do?
Who can I complain to?
Where can I get good work and parts for cheaper price?

Racing power cast aluminum transmission pan kit
Has anybody tried replacing the Transmission pan with a "RACING POWER CAST ALUMINUM TRANSMISSION PAN KIT". Weather here is extremely hot and now I need to drive 120km a day with a stuck bypass valve and loosing 2% of may transmission oil life daily. I'm planning to remove the bypass by changing the cooler line to a newer model but I'm hoping to extend the life of my transmission oil by also upgrading the transmission pan (with heat sink).

Motor mount question
Needed a transmission flush and the caddy dealer is by more work and I'm off this week so I went to a Chevy dealer close by and saved a few bucks. Feels great with 179000 miles after flush. They told me I need a motor mount though but didn't mention which one. Is there one that typically goes first? Had both replaced under warranty at 99000 miles. Should I just do both? Don't really feel anything unusual but haven't looked under the hood while someone gives it has.

2004 SRX presets for seats, A/C and radio with the Viper 5701?
I had the Viper 5701 security system and remote start installed on my 2004 SRX several years ago. When I unlock the vehicle with the Viper remote the factory presets aren't being activated and I've had to carry the
factory key fob along with the Viper fob. Anyone know why the Viper fob isn't activating the presets when the vehicle is unlocked? It's a pain to have to carry 2 fobs on my keychain. I contacted the store that installed
the Viper and the installation guy said there was nothing he could do. Seems strange to me. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.
